Alexandra 'Alex' Scott

Alexandra Scott "Cancer's Wasp" was born in Connecticut in 1996. The little lady was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. She met her challenge just before she turned 1. "Alex" at 4 years old, informed her mother she wished to start a lemonade stand to raise money to "help other kids, by providing it to doctors so they could help other children "like they helped me." She raised $2,000 with her first lemonade stand and  it went on to become Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Can you imagine? Well you don't have to. This kid was battling Cancer and running a small but significant organization which would help others. This sort of inspiration can be better than most treatments and medication patients can receive.

Alex moved forward with her lemonade stands throughout her life. The baby bumble raised over $1 million toward cancer research. When she passed away in 2004 at the age of 8 it is encouraging to know that this child absolutely made the most of her life, even accomplishing more than some who have lived to see their days of old age.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand continues to sponsor a national fundraising weekend every June called Lemonade Days. As many as 10,000 volunteers do so each years at more than 2,000 Alex’s Lemonade Stands around the nation. Don't see defeat when you look at this child, see a child who is still making a difference for children with cancer.
